This information is a hoax/urban legend and should be ignored. There are a number of minor variants of this hoax, below is one I received in October 2001:

When the companies mentioned were contacted, they stated the following:

Jennie Sullivan of Ryder simply stated that the message was a hoax
Jennifer Flachman of U-Haul stated her company was not aware of any of its fleet of 101,000 vehicles being stolen. 
Jim Smith of Verizon said his company had accounted for all their fleet "and knew where every single one of them were."

Please ignore any messages regarding this hoax and do not pass on any messages regarding it. Passing on messages about this hoax serves only to further propagate it.
