Economic Slow Down in US

This hoax appeared in October 2001. It is classified as a Hoax as it has a number of the classic markers, and is based on many other similar hoaxes, furthermore there is no substantiated claims of any such virus (at this time) that has these features, or uses this name:

There's a new virus which was found recently which will erase the
whole C drive. If you get a mail with the subject "Economic Slow Down in US" please delete that mail right away. Otherwise it will erase the whole C drive. As soon as you open it, it says "Your system will restart now ...
Do you want to continue?". Even if you click on NO, your system will be shut down and will never boot again. It already caused a major damage in the US and few other parts of the world. The remedy for this has not yet been discovered.

Please make sure you have backed up any local hard drive files
adequately - network, floppy, etc.

There are currently no known viruses that have been reported to the various anti-virus companies.

UPDATE: AVERT [NAI/McAfee] has not received any report of a user's hard drive being erased by opening the email.

Please ignore any messages regarding this hoax and please do not pass on any messages regarding it. Passing on these messages only serves to further propagate it.
