This is a hoax, it  was sent to me as a single e-mail, but it appears to be three distinct hoaxes/chain-emails, so I've shown them in both ways below. It first appeared in 2002.

There is no such way to track e-mail (yet) it's just a hoax. How spamming people can ensure your Yahoo account doesn't get closed seems a case of negative logic, as sending spam from your Yahoo account is likely to get your account canceled!

The only people this might help are those that send spam (Bulk Mail) as you are providing them with information that your Hotmail account is valid and in use, and therefore you are worth more to them when they sell on your e-mail address.

These all appear to be variants of the equivalent Hotmail hoaxes that have been circulating for some time.

The single e-mail version appears below:

Dear YAHOO User,

Because of the sudden rush of people signing up to YAHOO, it has come to our attention that we are vastly running out of resources.

So, within a month's time, anyone who does not receive this email with the exact subject heading, will be deleted off our server. Please forward this email so that we know you are still using this account.

WARNING WARNING
We want to find out which users are actually using their YAHOO accounts. So if you are using your account, please pass this e-mail to every YAHOO user that you can and AND IF YOU DO NOT PASS this letter to anyone we will delete your account.

From Mr. ALLEN SMITH
YAHOO Admin. Dept.

Our YAHOO system is getting to crowded!! We need to forward this to at least 20 people. I know this seems like a large number, but we need to find out who is really using their account. If you do not send this to at least 10 YAHOO members, we will delete your account. Sorry for this inconvenience.

Sincerely, Director of YAHOO Services
BOB LOPEZ

Here is the same hoax, split out into what I believe is three separate hoaxes:

If you receive a message about this then please ignore it and don't pass it on as this only serves to propagate it.
